"Are you the people with the really cool hand sanitizers?", a curious visitor asked at our booth. That’s right—at the 2023 American Society of Engineering Education conference, attendees were on a mission to get their hands on one of The Rucks Group’s highly sought-after hand sanitizers. Who would’ve thought such a small giveaway could create such a buzz?
Over the years, we’ve heard countless reasons why our hand sanitizers have become a fan favorite, but one of our favorite stories came from a loyal attendee at the American Evaluation Association’s annual conference. This visitor recounted how, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, hand sanitizers were nearly impossible to find. "You couldn’t get sanitizer anywhere and I just knew that I had have something in one of my bags and then one day I found these tucked in my work bag!"
Our very first batch of hand sanitizers made its debut at the [insert year] American Evaluation Association conference. We considered various giveaway options, but after much deliberation, hand sanitizers won the day—the only decision left was the packaging. A former TRG team member came up with what was, at the time, a seemingly risky idea -- to use the "credit card" design. But as it turned out, she couldn't have been more spot on! Years later, we’re still hearing why attendees love them: "They fit perfectly in my pocket," "They don’t have that overpowering alcohol smell," and "They were a lifesaver during COVID!"—one visitor even told us it made for a great fidget tool.
